]

One of my resolutions this 2009 was to listen to all new music, or at least music that i hadn’t heard yet. This was in large part due to the fact that my dear little sister gave me the coolest little Sansa Clip and being 2GB, I wanted an excuse to discover new music, instead of having to choose from my 60GB+ of music on my iTunes. So I backed up my iTunes library to an external drive, started a new one from scratch, and embarked on my search for new music. Some of my favorite frequented pit stops for these discoveries are 3hive, NPR, KEXP, The New York Times, The White House, Pure Volume, Music for robots, Scott Hansen, and Jeff Doe.

These are not the only places I look for music, but they’re some of the more frequented. Some less visited places include virb, hype machine, tranceaddict and dj doboy.
It’s March and while I’ve given in to listening to a few old songs that I acquired in 2008, I’ve done pretty good overall. Some of the songs I have succumbed to bringing back from my old library are Belanova’s Fantasía Pop album, Solar Stone’s seven cities, Godskitchen’s 2004 album, and Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean. Other than that I’ve been very happy with discovering new faces and sounds. Later on I’ll probably list some of my favorite new discoveries.

This past weekend we celebrated Independence Day here in Mexico. To commemorate the occasion some friends I traveled to a beautiful little town called San Miguel de Allende, where many foreign persons like to go live. We left since Friday and we were able to visit other awesome cities like León, Guanajuato, San Luis Potosí and we also stopped by the ghost town of Real de Catorce. We took many pictures, I adventured to take my Nikon Coolpix E5700, my Yashica 635 and my Mamiya 645

We had a blast!!! I’ll be posting pictures of that soon

Meanwhile, I’m posting a sampling of the Mexican National Anthem for your listening pleasure. I hope u enjoy!

So in the spirit of uniting with all bloggers, and in regards to my last post, I will write a brief post celebrating the fact that I have the freedom to write and post my thoughts online, unlike these and other citizens around the globe who have been banned access cold-turkey

I will post my five links to bloggers of various walks of life, which I’ve found interesting and yet never shared in this blog before:

Grammar Girl’s podcasts are some of my favorite short podcast series, and an excellent, quick, and free service which they provide. She has recently “re-published” her podcasts in the form of an audiobook

AfriGadget.com is a site which chronicles the creativity by which the talented African people are solving everyday problems.

PSFK is a trends blog which informs you of marketing trends and brings you fresh ideas that are being used daily.

UNIVOZ noticias is a Spanish news blog where you will read about technology, society, trends, and other trivia tidbits.

Last but not least, OBEY is a street propaganda art initiative. check it out, it’s one of my favorite campaigns, I’ve witnessed it in Monterrey, Mexico, in Paris, France, in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and in Dallas, Texas.

That’s it for now! I’m interested to know if any of these links come of some use to you.

This summer, after joining up with a couple of friends and meeting a new one at a friend’s wedding in Mérida, Yucatán, the four of us rented a car and embarked on a two day journey that took us from place to place at an unprecedented pace, yet very rewarding and truly unforgettable. This also marks one of the first trips where the majority of photos were not take by me. I lent my camera to César, one of the guys who came with us on this fantastic trip. So here, I give credit to his wonderful eye for capturing the essence of our trip through this magical land.

The first day we headed from the beautiful white city of Mérida towards the world-famous Mayan archeological site of Chichén Itzá, after visiting there for a bit, we took off to Valladolid, a very old city, one of the first to be founded by the conquistadores in America. From there we headed for the shores, but not before facing some harsh weather on the way. First we stopped at Tulúm, then Xcaret, just in time for the fabulous evening program, and after that to Playa del Carmen… and do you think these boys rested there??? noooo, that was just a semi-long pit stop before finally making it to Cancún and basking in the sun most of the next day! well, without further ado, enjoy this sampling of pics as well as the complete set of photos!
